I can only recommend that you call a transmission specialist but from what you have said it sounds like that could be the problem.

I had a not disimilar problem on my TD6 where it felt like the clutch was going (if it had a clutch, i.e then I thought it was the TC also)

Got to agree it sounds like maybe a slipping clutch.

Turns out it is the engine fan that I am hearing.

Thermostat done and seems to have cured the fan coming on when it shouldn't, however, it seems this fault wasn't connected to the HDC. Car is back in the delears for further investigation.

its been known that a not quite 100% battery can cause hdc and other electrical gremlins onto no6 Range Rover

New Bosch battery was the first thing I tried. |

the hdc is linked to the abs and the steering angle sensor have you had any faults with steering / repairs and have you turned the steering lock to lock while running to recal the steering angle sensor onto no6 Range Rover
