Recently got at 06 HSE 4.4 Jag V8, and coming from the P38 im amazed at how modern and civilized this vehicle is in comparison. However, been trying to track down this sort of humming/grinding noise at low speed when accelerating lightly or coasting on smooth roads. I can feel it on the steering wheel, throttle pedal and the shifter if i touch it. Its a high frequency vibration. Ive done things that helped a bit like replace the front wheels bearings, drained the two diffs (F+R) and switched to 19in factory wheels from the previous 20's SC wheels. They helped reduce the noise/vibration but hasnt totally eliminated it. Generally the car drives very nice and im so happy....but i get a feeling something is amiss.

Does the car shift smoothly? I would probably get the car checked out by a mechanic. Could be something as simple as the engine mount boots (can't remember the proper term, the rubber boots the engine sits on) being worn. On my last car, this took about 30 minutes to replace and about £45 for parts. |

Thought of the engine mounts too but my car has only done 26k kms although i havent visually inspected them. Has anyone here have their engine/transmission mounts on a Jag engine fail prematurely?
