Why so expensive?

Just had a look at the LR US website: prices start at 83,500 Dollars, equivalent £50,000 granted thats a standard one, with less spec than a Vogue in the UK, but even a Fully Loaded HSE Costs about 96,000Dollars, or £60,000. Thats £10,000 under UK list!! Why so expensive here: if we had an L405 on sale for £50,000 they would sell like hot cakes!

You may have a point lol but even so that would make the US base model £60,000... Surely theres some sales tax in the states too?

Sales taxes vary from state to state so many US prices don't include any sales tax, whereas they do on UK/European pricing.

From US site:

Quote:
Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price includes $850 destination and delivery. Excludes taxes, title, license, options and retailer-installed accessories. Actual price set by retailer. Vehicle may vary from image shown.

Comparing Autobiography Supercharged - base US price is £82400, UK price before VAT is £81995..

Yeah, the SC seems to be expensive wherever you look, as cash cow superior! The standard car however... even slapping on our 20%, is cheaper than the standard Vogue TDV6 here. Less kit for them yeah, but my point is that that car would fill the price gap between now and 5 years ago. Like the standard wheels over there too: look good and not too big! Surely a worthy addition to the UK range?

Can't answer why there are a number of "entry level" models in the US and not in the UK, must be marketing reasons.

yeah for sure, so far as I can tell though differences are:
-Different wheels
-Different seats
-No rear seat heating
-Standard Privacy Glass.
-Oh and obviously the 5.0 Non SC Petrol.

So a lot like the HSE in the UK of 5 years ago...

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

Those wheels look fricking nasty!

The seats arent too bad but look like they are the bases from a Disco HSE/XS as less sections on them, which can actually make them more comfy. Though im guessing the seat foam is a bit more sturdy than EU spec vehicles... Whistle Whistle FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Oh, I like the wheels Sad but maybe its because they are so standard: kinda offsets all the aluminium jewellery gubbins on the grille and so on! TBH probably prefer the Vogue seats, but not enough to make them worth £10k more! That is true lol: maybe the US spec is actually made of steel to take the strain Razz Whistle
