Sorry for the late reply been in France
100% what the others say I do 600 + miles between Stoke and Limoges in one trip all the time towing and solo. its a good 12-13 hours and thats without a hold up.
So find a nice site part way and put the legs down for the night.
enjoy your hols Mine was a blue one! Smile

I think as a newbie to France, we may not venture too far inland so to speak. We may stick to the local sites near to Calais for our first trip, then see how it goes.
I've just added it all up and its nearly £800 without the diesel. Having just bought a static, times are tough so we may leave it for next year!

A word of warning, Noddy on your rationale above.
We did the same a couple of years ago staying at two sites. The first which within 45 mins of the port was full of ignorant & arrogant Brits who had little respect for the site or anybody else staying there.
The second - which is the site at the top of this topic - is at the other end of the spectrum.
Les Eaux is around 90 mins from Cherbourg (not towing though).
Once again I couldn't recommend it more and we're off there again this summer.
I guess the best advice is to check site reviews thoroughly ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Site reviews are good but word of mouth is better, so I only ever follow a site review thats carried out by a user...not some fabricated eurocamp BS.

I'd be inclined to go a bit further than the port of calais which is like blackpool with no tower...

If you dont wish to go far or stay in northern france there are a lot of options....I'd recommend you seek a site that is affiliated to the caravan club or caravan and camping club as they both have teams of inspectors who give real feedback. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........
