Having got my pixel issue nearly sorted yesterday, I noticed the message "Pre Heat" appear on the display this morning when I started the car.

I thought this was to heat your spark plugs in very cold weather? So it's to heat the car? |

As Paul says "Pre-heat" refers to the fact the glowplugs are heating, nothing to do with FBH. |

I thought so because it goes out after few seconds. If it was preheating car it would stay on.

Just looked on a few BMW forums, and the general consensus is its the glow plugs pre heating. Some say it starts when you open the door, some say when you put the key in the ignition. Thats on later BM's though.
