Whilst crawling through putney tonight in the typical London traffic I got a warning of "transmission overheated" and then gear selection became sporadic. Pulled over and turned off the car. Restarted and the message was gone but gears would only change in manual mode. Crawled along at 40 on the A3 trying to decide to continue or not when the gears started working properly again and it was fine all the way home.

But how is that plumbed in? is it a sealed system or something I should be maintaining? first time I have seen this and it was slightly concerning..... "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

The cooler is at the bottom left of the Radiator, looking from above, its part if the cooling system, if the lower 8 sections of the main rad become blocked the Gearbox cooler is not fed correctly. Once the Gearbox oil gets to 140 Deg it stops changing up in order to use engine revs to keep it cool, so the issue could be the main Radiator.

Checked the rad coolant level this morning and it was quite low (I have a leak that requires a monthly top up and suspect the rad). Topped up the coolant and will see how the FFRR does this week. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."
