do not worry it happened to me .... you have to zero the battery .... you should use iid tool with the engine running, not to steal too much current to the battery! |

As playing with diagnostics systems takes a bit of time, the battery gets drained. When I have to do something with the engine off, I switch off all power consumers as much as possible (fan, lights, radio etc.)

Thanks guys. Mid charge and indeed it was way into the red. The batterys never been changed since I had the car for a year so am hoping thats the issue. If it does start I will test the alternator output too but maybe time for a bigger battery as dont want this to happen in the middle of nowhere! And it typically happens when I park 100 yards up the street so have two extension cables along to the car right now.

Hi Tom, glad that seems to be the problem. Look around the forum for tips on batteries, go for BIG capacity, as big as will fit in there. FFRRs are very power hungry. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Well after hanging around for an hour or so with charger in street I gave up, removed battery and its now charging in my hall. Bonnet to service position and battery out in pi**ing down rain and with only head torch. Pain in the butt car. Nothings straightforward.

When the car is up and running, check the charging voltage as well. Maybe your alternator is not doing its work too well either. Hope this will do the trick but suggest that if it does still get a new battery asap. Normally once they have been drained too much they are really bad at holding charge. Nope. battery back in car after 3 hour 10A charge put it straight back to 100%. Full charge remained after checking again. Am pretty much 100% its not battery after all. Lights fine, windows up and down fine, fans fine.

I remember something similar to this happening to DanUK when he got the rovercom tool, it was down to a corrupt BCM, I think it was a result of programming while the battery was low, sorry don't help you get the car going but its an idea V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
