Squeaky Rear Seat?

The big rear seat makes a hell of a racket, squeaking and rattling away. No noise when folded up for load space. Seems a bit of the squeaking comes from where it rubs up against the trim by the door pillar, but the rest is "inside". Sitting on it helps the noise to go away.

Anyone had this, or taken the seat apart to resolve it? .

I have the same issue, although not spent much time trying to sort it. Only thing I did try was treating the leather to try and soften it. Made no difference as it sounds as though it's coming from inside the side leather trim. FFRR TD6 HSE

Joe, you need to wedge something in there. Right beside where the seat back locks in, exactly the area you're describing. I folded up a some cloth to make it thick (black to match seats Wink ) The trick is to wedge it in AS you are locking the seat in place. Don't give up after the first try. I had this problem in my old disco as well. The down side: you got to do it all over again next time you fold down your seats! But it worked for me Thumbs Up

On the FRONT seats there is a bit of soft plastic trim that fits on the hard plastic surround and isolates it from the leather, mine was missing on the drivers side - I bought one and fitted it only £6 - job done. However prior to this and so it should work on any plastic to leather interface I bought a tube of clear silicon grease from an electronics shop smeared it on and silence.

Scarey gave me the idea but originally suggested silicon spray - it goes eveywhere - the grease is a much better option. I was able to remove all my folded up bits of cloth and felt - no squeaks. I think it cost me a fiver Thumbs Up Geoff

Thanks for all the tips.

I have also found that by sitting on the seat after putting it back into place helps to reduce the squeaking, but will try shoving stuff down the side and I am just about to clean and enrich my leather so will see how that all works. .

2006 Range Rover Autobiography Supercharged Zambezi Silver

I had this issue as well, in my case it was nothing to do with the leather, what I found was that the rear seat catch was causing the squeeking so I dropped the seat forward and wrapped a couple of layers of insulating tape around the bar that the mechanism locks onto - job done, squeeks all gone......I'm sure you'll find this is the issue..... Finally sorted this out with a couple of turns of black duct tape around the upper and lower latch bars on the rear seats, so thanks to CG-SC Thumbs Up .
