Do you have a main dealer in Lagos? I think it maybe time to have the gearbox ECU re-flashed with the updated/latest software... Having mine done this week as its not quite perfect... Craig |

Hi Craig, we do have a main dealer here in Lagos but after hearing the horror stories about Nigerian dealers/car shops in general (including first hand accounts) I don't want to take it to the dealer.

Have a look at the post from rockportpurple( hdc inactive ) about only having limited gears as it stated cause was a bad connection from the battery to bulkhead causing the issue could be similar to your issue. Hope it helps

Thanks Roger, was just reading it and have checked that particular one (even took it off and cleaned it when I got the car). In fact, did that to all the ground connections under the bonnet (as almost 30 years of experience with cars has shown me that the majority of problems with olders cars are bad electrical connections).

Have a similar problem with BBS see my post re tranfer box problems. I am a bit further south so if nessecery can go to a stealer they just think their customers print their own Rand notes. Anyway good luck with your problem |

Hi L, just spent a month in Joburg with the family on vacation. Didn't realize the dealers were that bad down there as well. From our point of view it is quite cheap there (most things). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Update : Last night I opened up the box with the transmission ECUs. Disconnected the battery leads and liberally sprayed the plugs, fuses etc. with contact cleaner. Removed/disconnected all of them and put them back (did that a few times).

I've just had the exact same fault after a software update, the tech cleared the code and reported it to Land rover, he says he'll come back to me when he has some more info, I'll let you know as I know more, |

Then i should stay away from them as the gearbox software was corrupted or non genuine or had been done in a fashion as to screw up the gearbox ECU... Transmission specialists had "NO COMS" with the gearbox ECU when using an Autodata machine some weeks/months ago when they checked the levels and chemistry of the oil... Hence my alarm bells ringing and a trip to Main Agents Craig |

Latest update. Last night I reset the adaptive values of the gearbox and the gear changes (esp. 3-4) got worse at "Miss Daisy" driving style. If I sped up a bit, driving a bit more spirited the gear changes were fine. But since morning traffic does not allow for that the transmission failure came in pretty quick. So switched to Tiptronic mode and hey presto, everything is fine.
