How do you date a windscreen?

No not the a nice bottle of wine and a box of chocolates type of date.
My 2003 TD6 has

Land Rover
Pilkington
E1 43RR-001588
AS1M4260DOT682

on its lower left.
The reason for asking is today while washing the car I pressed the upper centre of the screen from outside and noticed a small bit of movement and soap bubbles. I also get a slight dribble of water down the inside centre of the windscreen.
So just wondering if my screen is factory fitted and has faulty adhesive or has been replaced badly.

In your heat down there its possible that the adhesive has finally given up Sad

Sounds like an OEM part to me but we need someone with the same spec and age vehicle as you to confirm.

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

Come on Adrian, temperature maybe but sun in NZ is brutal compared to almost everywhere in the world Smile I used to be able to take quite a bit of sunshine but in NZ I would get burned in 10 mins flat (granted during my lunch break but still). Living on the equator with the dust in the air here I can be outside for an hour and just tan, not burn !!

I guess it could be the harsh NZ sunlight or better the UV.

For those of you who haven't been to NZ, it is the most clear sky you will ever see in your life. You can see for miles and miles (the Who must have written it after a visit to NZ). It's incredible, I have a picture from offshore Taranaki and you can clearly see the snow capped mountains ranges in the center of the North Island. My free fall sky dive over Taranaki was absolutely brilliant as you can see incredibly far !!!

On the dating of the screen, why don't you contact Pilkington ?? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

The three aftermarket screens that I've had to have fitted by recognised windscreen specialists did not have the Land Rover oval.

That suggests to me that yours is the original, however, I could be wrong Confused

Generally, you can date automotive glass by a small dot placed under one of the words printed on it.

If the dot is under the 3rd letter, it's 2003.

Ahha, I have a dot above the G of Pilkington so that would be 7 which could mean 2007.
