Coolant leak issues

Im startin to get properly irritated with my rangie,
2002 4.4 v8 with Lpg 112k

So, a couple of months ago the main water pump gave up and dropped all it's coolant,
Replaced that, but new one was faulty and it did it again.
So another new main water pump, while I was at it, new thermostat, new radiator, full coolant flush, full LPG service.

Then last week I was loosing coolant again, checked it out and the exchange water pump (listed as auxillary water pump on rave) was knackered, and had a hole in it, so replaced that (PITA job due to its position!)

And now iv found another leak, it's not leaking much, but it's a drip, from the riffles of transmission oil cooler

Again, replacing it doesn't seem like much of a job other than topping up the gearbox oile which I'm not yet sure how to do, but il soon find out.

But it's just one thing after another and it's starting to wind me up!

Any ideas why it's doing this? Or just age? Crying or Very sad

Water pump is well known fault in the 4.4. Also check your hoses; they are known to deteriorate and may need changing in yours due to age. Check the fourth one which is at the lower back in the most inaccessible place especially.

In March 2011, a mate of mine bought a 2003 4.4 with LPG and 119k miles for £11500. It had already had a new gearbox and radiator etc. He had issues with the left bank of cylinders running lean and sensors etc, and leaks and suspension and then the gearbox went again.

He said its just one thing after another and I've run out of money.

He sold it after 6 months for £5000 to a garage who were going to replace the gearbox and sell on.....

He then run a £3k Volvo S60 Diesel and is now in a 2001 Discovery 2 Td5 ES..........

Sometimes its just the wrong car.

That said, if you've replaced a few bits and pieces, you'd imagine you can forget about them for a bit......

I've just had the Trans Failsafe message come up. What do we do ?

Perhaps its just an age thing then........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Ther a pain in the arse, but I love it so much,

Iv been under it today, and after further investigation, it's not the transmission cooler, just one of the pipes connecting to it

So hopefully I can repair it instead of replacing it!

A new transmission oil cooler is £150!

So I'm upto 1100 in 2months

Plus £500 on the disco after rebuilding the rear end, new axle, suspension, welding, seat belts, wheel bearings, diff, MOT, Tax

As you said pal, I'm running out of money! Tax is coming up on the rangie again aswell Sad
