Ok after Sunday's little cuddle with a jag s type I was asked by the accident management company if the car could possibly e a write off as I listed all the parts and work that it would likely need.

This has become more pertinent now as the Sill has been deemed damaged after looking under the plastic sill cover its well bent so a new sill and the work that is involved in that as well.

I didn't see the orignial post - so may be talking rubbish (as usual). But if you are claiming off someone else and therefore, their insurance is paying, they have no right to write off your car. Explain, you want putting back into the same position that you were in before their insured damaged your car. That means repairs. Usually they will only push to write it off if the reapirs come to more than the value of the vehicle. If they can save 5p by repairing it, they are required to do so - but take into account the cost of the hire vehicle as part of that. And insurance companies seem to get fleeced on hire costs... |

Another note of warning , be very aware of claims management companies their main function is to make huge amounts from the over inflated car hire agreements they force the other parties insurance in to and then stalling the case to maintain that revenue stream . The other parties insurance company won't look kindly on a rebuild if they just spent £8,000 on your car hire. 2008 MY Supercharged

Be very careful regarding the car you have been lent whilst yours is being assessed/repaired.

I repair vehicles for a living - how does a £9800 insurance bill for a 14 year old motorcycle that was written off at a value of £900 add up ? - i'll tell you. The company assessing the damage to the bike took just over 2 months, and all that time the owner had a hire bike at a daily rate of £160 a day. The company doing the assessing and repair work also hired out bikes. The insurance company paid the bill without a second thought. That insurance company could have been yours. They'll get the money back from their customers - the likes of you and me. |
