Evening guys, bit of info and advice if you could. I have an MY07 Supercharged with the original reversing camera, it didn't work when I purchased the vehicle but on one or two occasions it did burst into life. This piqued my interest as I thought it couldn't be particularly broken.
Anyway, long story short I removed the camera and gave it to dad to have a go at repairing it based on the information I had seen about re soldering the bad joints in the connector on the board. I got it back today and plugged it into the wiring before it went back on the car and it was working. Brilliant.
So I reassembled everything... and you guessed it its failed already. I took it all to bits and I could see the connector had become loose again. By squeezing it together I could get it to work and as soon as it was released the video connected failed.
So I can be sure its the camera at fault, the problem now is the connector has come off the board from my fiddling, is this now beyond repair?
Could anyone give me a source for a replacement camera, it appears they are £300 or more for my year yet the later 10-12 camera can be had for £100. Is it possible to fit the later camera? Or is mine still able to be repaired? 2005 E60 M5
