Isofix

Due to the imminent arrival of No 1 Grandson or Daughter in the next couple of days , the other day i was putting one of these Isofix baby seats in the Daughters Merc , then went to my own car and noticed that the FF doesn't have these ….. strange is it not … Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes thought they would have had these Isofix points in them … ====================================

A 2010 RR will definitely have ISOFIX - I know a 2008 does.

Correction , found them Martin , back seats have hardly been sat in and found them tucked in away at the bottom of the seats …. bit of a tight squeeze tho to fit one of those isofix seats in could end up damaging the leather …

Guess i will just have to say my car doesn't have them …. Whistle Whistle Laughing Laughing ====================================

It's a royal PITA to get them in, but you can buy plastic guide brackets that help keep the leather out of the way and stop it getting marked. Definitely an after thought in the seat design though.

You should be able to just use the seatbelts if its an occasional fitting though, much faster and just as safe!

They're fitted to all L322 FFRR's.

I have them, but choose not to use them and, for my daughter, have been using my son's 'old' Britax 3-in-1 seat that we first bought and used back in 2003.

I also take the seat out and put it in the boot when there's ever a few days when I know she won't be in my FF. And I only ever use the seat on one side. And she's never allowed to eat or drink, unless it's water, in there.

Harsh, but it's gotta be done. Laughing Si. <This is my name.

Our child seat came with the guides you slot between the base and back cushions to keep the leather out of the way when ramming the seat home to make the catches lock.

If you leave a seat in when it's not being used it will mark the leather, which then takes quite a while to go back to the correct shape.

I don't use the guides as they stretch the leather even more but I do use a moulded seat protector and keep the seats in the back when not in use , or even better in the wife's car Thumbs Up 2008 MY Supercharged

We put a friend's child seat in the other week, and I noticed the rear seats have the isofix labels on them and sure enough they are there.

They use a seat protector under their car seat which is a good idea, especially with perforated leather and all the debris a child makes with food and drink.

It's still easier though to ban eating and drinking in the car - i never did it as a child ! Discovery 4 HSE

Off Topic Tell me about the mess thing , my brother has an S Max nice car in its own way top of the range but his youngest is allowed to sit in the back and " anoint "it with milk from her cup . The whole car looks like its had a Bukaki party in it and frankly smells like it , he will never be able to sell it , Rolling Eyes 2008 MY Supercharged

Sorry Mick for hijacking thread.....

but we have just bought an isofix base and it has a lower support foot which doesn't reach the foor.

I put a bit of wood under the foot so it is stable on the floor.

Is this common on the fullfat and acceptable safetywise or have we bought a wrong isofix base?

Thanks,

Grant

The foot must be adjustable , every car is different and it's the telescopic function of the foot that fits to each car. 2008 MY Supercharged

Yes, it is adjustable but at full length it is still too short.
