Air Suspension inactive ......

Suddenly getting this error (recorded from EAS activate device) - battery fine and appears to clear itself after a while but has happened each day this week when I start the car.

Can anyone decode the error and point me int eh right direction of what is seemingly failing? "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Hi Mr P
Not sure on the error code as it's different system to the Autologic we have. The fault relates to the readings from the height sensors that don't tally with each other. Can you check the readings of the individual heights sensors against each other in real time data with your equipment? If one is different when compared against the others thats where you should start. Also check the front air springs to see if they are ok and not leaking. If may need to jack the wheels up to allow the shocker to reach it's full travel. Dirt gets inbetween the spring and seat and rubs a small hole over time. If the car has gone over a bump and the hole has leaked some air the ECU will command a refill of the strut but log the fault that the corner momentary was low. If it sees that enough times it will bring the message up on the dash.
Hope this helps.

Thanks GOG! - thats what I was looking for - had a thought it maybe a sensor rather than the normal EAS stuff. I will check them this weekend. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Had a search but can anyone tell me if it is possible to test the height sensors on the l322? It would seem that it is a sensor issue as the eas inactive goes away when you get to motorway speed and the car correctly drops to the right setting, when you slow up it gets confused and the error appears. I don't have any of the flash diag tools. I do have access to the SE to view the ODBII data if that would show it. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Had this fault when I had hole in airbag.

Go to off road mode and have a good listen all round for hissing air. Try lifting by each wheel arch. Leave in off road mode over night see if you have a saggy corner (whole front or rear may drop). .

Had one of those before so did check to see if that was the case again but doesn't appear to be. Is there anyway to get a decode of the error I posted or is it generic and what I have from the eas activate tool is all I can get? "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

This post more or less covers it: Either airbag or faulty sensor. If you don't think it is airbag, try changing the sensor first (much cheaper!!)

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post19308.html

It may also be that the sensor arm has swung round by 180 degrees? Have you had the front end apart for anything? Or the sensor linkages might be broken/loose etc. .

Thanks Joe90 - the fault is the same so looks like a height sensor. If dan is reading this can he tell me how much they are? "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Has anyone done a photo gallery of how to get at them / check them before I start trying to find my copy of Rave? Sure its a sensor now as at one point today it thought it was in off road mode on the warnings but the lights said normal then it changed back. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

No photographs but more or less self explanatory when you see them

A couple of small Torx bolts (I think they are Torx) hold the sensor onto the body and a 10mm nut and bolt onto the suspension. Take care removing the electrical plug as you can easily damage it if forced

Many thanks all, last question - how can I test the sensors as I don't know which one is faulty? Short of it being obviously broken(snapped) is there a test I can do? Are they resistance based or digital signal to the bus? "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

If your vehicle has the original sensors they will most likely all be on the way out. The connector where it bolts onto the suspension corrodes and the rubber splits.
