My thoughts exactly Stan, it's getting welded on Tuesday , so will stone chip after it's sorted. Not going to look at the other side yet, that's a job for next weekend!at least it's running ok this week! Saving for a newer one in earnest though. |

I read your point about a newer car, but are later ones any better in this area ?

Save up for a L405 - they're made of aluminium and won't rust. |

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Tug but in my experience newer FF's (05>) are worse than 2002-2005 for rusting! |

Craig said they're worse. When he saw mine he said it's not as bad as some 2007 models he'd seen. Ford changed the paint process. Mine has been treated but it was no where near as bad as that and it's the same age. |

I maybe wrong but it appears the Steel or the preparation or the coating materials changed from Ford's management onwards! So in essence... If you own a non touchscreen car, they rust slower than a touchscreen car! Thats my experience... 09> FF's are not old enough yet to be showing major rust yet (down south anyway!) |

The further North you are, the longer salt is on the roads and the more the car rots! |
