Supercharger oil

Following recent supercharger oil post, I asked my dealer to send me some as well. With the high underbonnet temps here, I thought it would be a good idea.

This is what they sent, must be easy to get in the shops in the UK I guess Smile

So no need to buy the separate bottles marked Jag supercharger oil I saw in another post. I bet this comes in cheaper overall Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

This is what my dealer suggested. However, they also told me that I needed 8 litres! When I clarified the purpose, they said it should be ok, but said that they had never done this before. Hence, I am yet to be convinced.

Eaton also market a particular formulation and I do not believe that Eaton are doing this so that they can sell a few small bottles of oil. This also sews seeds of doubt in my mind.

Finally, I am reliably informed that, whilst some superchargers are fine with engine oil, Eaton superchargers are designed for a low viscosity aviation turbine oil which is apparently what is on eBay.

Without a definitive oil specification, it is not possible to be absolutely sure. Therefore, I shall play safe once I have saved up the £30 for the very very special stuff!!

In the meantime I will enjoy the debate. 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4
