Fond memories of (old) technology!

I had one of these for my first "serious" computer, followed swiftly by an Atara 512ST, that I paid a fortune to have upgraded to a whole meg of memory!!!

My Nana & Grandad bought me a Sharp MZ-80K when I was about 13 ;

So I learn't programming and stuff, rather than playing games.

Went on to do a Degree in Computing Science and am now a Chartered IT Professional. so I owe much to the old machine..........and my grandparents.

Used the Commodore PET and BBC Micro when doing my B/Tec and played "Revs" alot.

Eeeeee when I had my own teeth.....!!

<chuckle> Learned to program in BASIC, machine code and 6502 Assembly when I was eight. Guess what I still do now I'm 41....

Revs was fun, but I'm afraid the game of the era was Frak!

First computer parents bought me was a BBC Master 128 ... duuuuh beep! Strykers Run was my favourite game, although revs never seemed to run properly on it.

Skipped the Atari/Amigas/Nintendo/Sega stuff and moved from there onto PC's cause my dad worked as en engineer in IBM at the time. Watching the BIOS count upto 640k in those days and CGA>EGA>VGA gaming and trying to get all the drivers loaded into memory at startup, but with enough space to run the games you wanted. Managed to get OS/2 Warp running on the internet ... i vaguely remember very early days of internet and logging onto the BBC's tomorrows world website. That and bulletin boards

Then dad brought home a 486 colour laptop with 4mb ram ... best thing about that? It could run Doom!

From there on in, its always been PC's for me. V8 or else ...

oooo doom!! used to play that at a friend whos dad worked for Digital back in the day Smile Digital Alpha MIPS machines in each bedroom and 2 in his office!! even had CAT cable in the rooms.

I had lovely BNC at home between 2 cobled together desktops and me and my brother could play on them Smile was good until 1 went pop and couldn't afford the bits, £30 per stick of 1meg ram Big Cry and then the dialup boom and then broadband. First one in the area to get it thru a trial with C&W thru the STB and the 512k service was lightening. Teamfortess with pings around 1-5ms was great against all the dialup bodies Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Bought an IBM PS/2 286 PC in 1991.....used to play Prince Of Persia mainly.

One of my mates had a 486 and I played DOOM on that.

Got a Laptop with my first job after graduating, and played DOOM, DOOM 2 and Duke Nukem 3D......

Then moved onto the Sony Playstations.........had all 3.

Don't play games on PC now. Not since prob about 1994........
