2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black

When I viewed that car it was in a very different state than it is in now.

I had left a deposit on the car and was told it was "retail ready", I then went to see the car and, in short it was not.

The tyres were one of the first things I noticed, they should be the correct size when bought from a Land Rover Garage as an approved vehicle IMHO.

I gave the salesman a very thorough explanation of what I was expecting and where they had fallen short.

Looks well now but I'd pursue the tyres. '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto for the Mrs

what does that mean? Shocked

Adam I would also put pressure on the dealer to change the battery, my experience with batteries which have been left in a partial or discharged state is that the capacity and ability to hold charge is significantly reduced, and as I learned to my cost the FBH consumes power at an alarming rate, and unless your battery is up to scratch it is only a matter of time before it lets you down.

Looks a lovely motor, same colour as mine - good choice, looks really classy and makes a nice change from the standard black Thumbs Up

Doc, I can tell it was a mucky car inside, had been well used and not looked after but it was only superficial. I've now gone over the details and it seems fine.

Will speak to the dealer and ask their opinion on the tyres as they are non standard. Discovery 4 HSE

I reckon as I got a great price on the car itself they will be less than inclined to start givin me things. I know I paid less than it owed them cos he showed me the stock list and what they bought it in for Cool Discovery 4 HSE

Doc,

The problem I will face is that unless the battery goes flat again very soon, they have no cause to replace it as the Land Rover Assistance chap checked that it was fully charged, charging correctly and draining correctly and that all systems shut down when they were supposed to and only drew the correct milli-amps when it was at rest.

If nothing goes wrong I'd be happy, as it saves me the hassle factor. Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure if a battery is covered under warranty, I would guess it is. (A brand new one is only £70 though so not a bank breaker) Discovery 4 HSE

Do people still fall for that old chestnut? Rolling Eyes

The salesmans 'stock list' is a sales tool designed to assist him in selling the car........... I'll give you a minute to think about that one Wink

Still a nice motor so congrats on that one! Thumbs Up The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

JMC, maybe there was a bit of hoodwinking going on, but I still know I got a good price for the spec, age and mileage, as I've been looking at 2nd hand prices for the best party of 12 months! Discovery 4 HSE

Adam, stick out for the battery, I did.

It turned out that even though everything was working as it should it had a dead cell. A £100 quid battery is almost a tank of fuel, and I would raher a main agent replaced it especially with all the settings and fault codes and pyrotechnic charges.

Plus it can't have been right if it went flat so quickly, LR assistance told me that a 10 to 15 minute run is now sufficient to fully charge a battery with todays modern charging systems, so to go flat so quickly there must be an underlying fault.

I told the main agent that LR assist had been out once and I kept having to recharge it overnight - the battery was replaced no arguments.
