Portugal 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue
Old Rangie

I'm thinking of getting a 3.9 efi.

i've got two on the line, both 4 doors. One of them is a Vogue and the other a Vogue SE.

Question here is, which one of them, on the long run will be the most valuable, the soft dash Vogue SE or the hard dash Vogue?

I think condition and originality play key roles here but, assuming both are the same and in good original condition (and kept accordingly), then I would say the hard dash Vogue would be the more valuable long-term. Si. <This is my name.

I would have said the soft dash would be the better buy if all else is equal.

Not many made and last of the line.

The soft dash interior is much nicer than the hard dash, but budget for electrical gremlins and suspension issues. I had to pretty much replace the entire system on mine and it was not cheap. Once it worked it was a great car to drive. I still miss mine and the sound of the V8 was great! Tom

Assuming same quality running gear, soft dash is nicer and rarer V8 or else ...

I have a 3.9i Vogue Auto in mint condition 86k miles and she is climbing in value, I have owned many many Classics all from new including all the diesels.

Top tip, buy an early 90's 3.9 Vogue if you can, its a fantastic spec for a classic car. Avoid the models with CATS, AirCon, Air Bags, elec sunroof, ABS, electric seats etc, it will drive you slowly mad, in essence that rules out the horrid soft dash models which took away some of the character of the early RR's and the panoramic view - the bonded windscreen (and much of the dash layout) was robbed from the discovery and its awful. The dash is higher, windscreen pillars are wider and the roof line is lower due to the bonded screen which spoils the panoramic view which was one of the main attractions of the early RR's.

The 3.9's without all the power sapping ancillaries are also very fast for a Range Rover, mine hits 60 in 9 seconds and outguns many RR Sports which is fun!

The Vogue has elec windows, Central Locking, elec heated mirrors and enough toys without the headaches of too many electrics. There are also a few Vogues about with manual leather seats, these were part of the Virgin fleet of vehicles.

The ones i'm looking at, the Vogue is one of the latest hard dash, as it's a 91 car.
The Vogue SE is a 94, which had it's air suspension replaced by std springs. I haven't checked yet as the micro cat site is offline, but I think LR had a kit for it, and the seller told it was made with the official LR kit. The thinking issue, is the price. The Soft dash is almost half of the hard dash one.

Both are also autos with the leather seats.

About the eating RRS's, hummmm. I had a go in another auto 3.9 a few days ago, and it was just the noise, as the car felt like from those 200 horses at least 158 had run away...eheheh By modern standards it was slow...

I always thought the Soft Dash models commanded a bit of a premium, I've had a couple of Classics myself in the past for green laning etc and still think they are brilliant.

If you want something that is sure to go up in value try finding a factory 300 Tdi soft dash.
