Land Rover haven't produced any disgusting models so far, and I seriously doubt that their new flagship car will be anything but stunning in the finished article.

Some recent face-lifts have been terrible (2010 RR, D4) and the Evoque is going to look out-of-date in about six months. I'm sure it will be a really excellent car, but think how good an interpretation the L322 was. I hope it's only the looks which have gone off-course but I suspect it will be less of a Range Rover and more of a conventional luxury car. We shall see. |

They'd never compromise the off road capability. New models always have quirky looks that don't sit well with the traditionalists, and generally people don't welcome them with open arms but get used to them.

Nothing to do with being a traditionalist - the L322 was a great, modern design which referenced enough of the original without being a pastiche. As for sales success - as a business they're clearly winning that one, no arguments. It doesn't mean everyone has to like what the brand has become. The 2010 facelift is chintzy and fussy, so it appears it was a reasonable segue into the new one. Edit -despite not liking the look of it, I'm still looking forward to having a go and having a good look at one in the flesh. Might jump on the Eurostar to the show.
