I haven't driven the 4.4 TDV8 but I gather it has a 8 speed gearbox, should also come with 'Active Dynamics' which reduce roll, and apparently it should do 30MPG where the 3.6 TDV8 does 25MPG. I've had my 3.6 TDV8 re-mapped by JE Engineering so I don't think there will be much difference in performance but there will be some improvement over a standard 3.6 TDV8. Although my experience is the TDV8's are best at wafting along rather than competing with hot hatches. The S350CDi is a great car for long distances but lacks the feel good experience of the FFRR which is why I let it go. The S350CDi more like an efficient mobile office or corporate meeting. No fun and more likely to get stuck in the floods we are curerntly experiencing. I don't drive much urban so concur with the above, 20ish MPG probably. I would try and get the 4.4 TDV8 if you can but I guess it depends how long you have to wait. Also prices normally firm up later in the year but they may not this year due to the new model arriving which would be good for you. |

Just done the dam silly thing of looking at the LR approved site - they have a 4.4 TDV8 with 11k miles for £44k 2010 (60) - wow! With a bit of hagling that's a 3-year old (virtually new) RR for around half the original price. And loads more to choose from. Oh dear....... |

You mean 2 years old don't you ? I'm sure it's only 2012 .............. I don't think prices have really dropped any more than they always have. Before I got mine new last year I looked at a 3.6TDV8 SE which was a 2010 , so just over 1 year old at the time. Dealer wanted 50K for it, so I would think a 2 year old one should be about 40 - 50K depending on spec. It's the joy of owning luxury cars, the value drops faster than the fuel guage I do lots of town driving, sometimes takes an hour to do 4 to 5 miles In those instances my 4.4TDV8 does about 20mpg. But easliy does 35 on a nice average run on country roads 40, 50, 60mph type speeds. It wafts along beautifully, but the torque is incredible & eats plenty of so called hot hatches when you need it to |
