My Rangey: From 'Used' to 'Like New' in 3 days.

Hello everyone,

I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I'm a big believer in using a Professional Car Detailer my cars. I've always bought well specced cars (right model/colour/spec) which look 'tatty' at a discount, and then spend a few of the spare pennies on the professional detail job.

I had my (new to me) Vogue SE done recently and I thought I'd share the write up.

http://www.whitedetails.co.uk/index.php?id=189

If you're in the East Midlands and fancy bringing your car back to pretty much 'as new' condition, I can't recommend Jim at White Details highly enough. He's a perfectionist, great attention to detail, works like a trooper, and is very reasonably priced considering the hours he puts in.

Cheers all, Bomber. - Ad augusta per angusta -

Impressive transformation. I was surprised to see the amount of 'damage' on the paint. I thought it Only needed a wash as little polish from the before pictures!

Is this expensive? Three days of time.

thanks chaps.

Cost wise I guess it's all relative a bit, mine was around £550. But I had full clean and leather treatment on the interior, major paint correction outside, engine bay detail, and he took a ding out of the drivers door for me.

His pricing is on his site, but each car is a bit different so varies depending on the amount of correction needed and any extras you want done. - Ad augusta per angusta -

Have to admit the results are very impressive. Thumbs Up

It's got me wanting to go out to the carpark to check my Vogue's paint again. Mr. Green

Detailing is very time intensive and it's nice to have someone do it. Makes the 'new' car feel more special somehow. And that handover thing at the end. Lovely feeling!

But as the sad, sad person that I am, I really enjoy doing this myself as it helps me bond with my cars and gives me time alone and to think whilst being utterly absorbed in doing a job that I love. Si. <This is my name.

As you say it is all relative. As my car is less than 6 months old and has yet to be seriously off roaded etc it probably would need a lot less work. As it is Fujitsu white it probably will not 'shine' in the same way either. I think I would be slightly scared to find out if the paint depth is uniform on a new car.

I should have looked further on his site for the prices. Considering all the potions and lotions, pads and machine the initial investment for the home detailed might well pay for the first couple of detailing sessions.

Just because a car is used off road does not mean that it cannot shine. I used my old Discovery off road constantly but I was always keen to get it back to a good shine...See below.
The company that have done the Range Rover are extremely impressive.

Looking good!

It's amazing how much hard work goes into correcting/detailing a car. I've got all my own kit, but I rarely have time to use it anymore.

Paul.

Looks good, I wonder if how he would fix a poorly repaired stone chip? The previous owner of mine tried repairing using his ar5e by the state of it.... Rolling Eyes

Hi Bomber,

Just spotted this, thanks for the post!! Thumbs Up

Hope all is well in Bomber County? How's the Range? A little over three months now since I worked on it.

Did you talk about having the VW's leather looked at at somepoint?! I forget. Struggling for dates in July now; it's packed!

FYI, 3 more full fats that I've worked on since you let me loose on yours:

Jim used to do my old bosses cars for him, and I've seen the results on 3 different cars my boss had. If you think they look good in the photos you'll cream your pants if you see them in the metal. I want mine done, but I don't want to be without my FFRR for a week Sad
