TATA'S DESIGN FOR NEW RANGE ROVER ?????????

Our spies did well to spot this mildly disguised Range Rover parked among a myriad of other black cars, but this is the facelifted Rangie, set to hit showrooms in autumn 2010.

Revisions will evidently be mild, though these will be the first tweaks to the car since the marque came under Indian stewardship when Tata bought Land Rover in June. As you can see, only the grille, headlamps and taillights are disguised, suggesting Tata is operating an ‘if it ain’t broke’ redesign policy for the luxury SUV.

Only time will tell whether that policy will continue for the all-new car, due in 2013

This could even be a wind up. The vehicles are two different ones, wheels are different and one vehicle has supercharged side vents and it even looks to be in a different car park. Only difference I can see is very small differences to the tail lights - can't honestlly see a manufacture taking so much trouble to hide just that. Might be a couple of auto journo's short of a story and decided to fake it...

Yeah 2 different cars in different locations.

Saw these pics a week or so ago and my thoughts were the same...what's new?

My guess is they're toying with new LED lights ala Porsche/Audi.

Perhaps a new grille and bumper arrangement is due soon as a minor facelift as its been nearly 3 years since the last one. Discovery 4 HSE

Obviously I can't say for sure, but would guess that this is a 2010my, or a mule for the next generation model. The next gen is meant to have a totally different shell and be slightly larger, this one is obviously the current shell (L322).

Hope it isn't bigger - I think its just the right size now, I have trouble finding parking spaces big enough as it is and on some small country roads its already on the edge of being slightly too big.

Then again were only a small part of the market - if your having to compete with an Escalade in the US of A!

From the 12/2009 German Car Magazine AutoBild (Allroad supplement): sales of Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport are very low (only 600 RRS sold compared to 2500 in 2008) so they are completely rethinking the range, there will be no Disco 5 and a new RRS (L494) will be produced from 2014 together with the new Range Rover (L405) on a common spaceframe platform, sharing parts like the Touareg/Cayenne or the ML/GL do.
The actual Discovery/RRS platform is too heavy and will be terminated. There will be a new Defender and possibly a 7-seat Freelander (Ventura?) to replace the Disco. And of course the LRX.

There's even a drawing of the FFRR4:
