Following up from the "rate your RR" thread.
So, according to the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics, as of 2009, there were 254,612,210 passenger vehicles on the road in the US.
Land Rover used to claim that 75% of all the vehicles they've ever made were still on the road.
What's the TOTAL number of Land Rovers made, something like 6,000,000 or so?
I do recall some years ago, Honda sold more minivans in 1 month than LR sold Range Rovers all year.
And I also recall that in 2007, Land Rover number 4,000,000 rolled off the line.
Range Rover number 1,000,000 was in 2010.
Disco number 1,000,000 was March of this year.
Anyways....
75% of 6M is 4.5 million vehicles.
Even if ALL of that 75% were in the US, it would be less than 2% of all the vehicles on the road here.
Which is why I try to wave at other LRs; there's not that many of us.
I guess in the UK, waving at other Rovers would be like me waving at other Jeeps when I'm in the Grand Cherokee.
Wouldn't have time to drive, with all the waving around! Jim
