This might be a dumb question.

So, unless I've misunderstood, the hybrid TV tuner is basically a Freeview box. Correct?

So how come I can't get any of the radio stations via the TV? As part of the Freeview service you should get the radio stations listed below.

Can anyone else get them? I'm confused...

Ok. That's kind of good news.

I'm talking to some experts (geeks) on a satellite forum who have assured me that as both the TV pictures and the radio stations are transmitted over UHF frequencies if the box can receive one, it can receive the other.

Which means there is likely to be a way to 'unlock' this feature.

I'll be back...  Past (too many to list, but a few favs)...

i found this after swapping for the hybrid unit,it must to be down to the firmware on the tuner would love to get that sorted, let me know if you find out anything, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

General wisdom seems to be that LR may have disabled it intentionally as on the move the reception of the radio channels (which is UHF as per the TV pictures) would be the same as TV, i.e. not that great.

Customers may forgive poor TV reception on the move, but would expect the radio reception to be better.

That's one theory anyway...

since i put the late style back windows in the reception is spot on, even on the move it very good. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Slightly off topic but may be of help.

I have a TV dongle fitted to my computer, I can receive all Freeview TV stations but not Radio Stations. I guess it's all in the software. Whoever writes the software decides what features are present. I would guess it would be very difficult to get radio reception via Freeview in your car unless you are good at hacking. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

There will/should be an option in your software somewhere to use radio stations. ( I guess you are using Microsoft Windows ?)

If you do a channel scan using a dvb dongle under linux all the radio stations come up and can be listened too. They seem to take a bit longer to load than TV (odd). Mplayer and VLC will play these. (no mplayer for dvb under Windows)

It is likely that the "blackbox" / "silverbox" in the FFRR is only scanning for TV as there is no need for radio given the alternative and the processing overhead is probably a fair bit higher than FM.

With my in car PC I get dvb TV and Radio, but inconsistent reception whilst on the move doesn't make it worthwhile .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

looking at the multiplexes it seems that if you can recieve itv2/3, 5* etc , you should get the radio stations as they are on the same bouquet.. ... - .- -.

The only radio stations from the above list that i do not get are

U 105.6
and
THE HITS
PREMIER CHRISTIAN RADIO

But the rest show up okay via DAB 1 and DAB 2 , granted DAB 3 is quite poor reception wise the only thing i can pick up on that is Glasgow West University Radio
