service interval

I have just bought a 2003 TD6 with 55k on the clock, last service at 47k but that was march 08, i have spoken to LR and they say that it should be done every year but my LR independant garage says that it should be done when the service indicator tells me that it needs doing!

I think that it should be done every 12 months as regardless of use oil does breakdown, your thoughts are most welcome.

Well I was told annually or when the service indicator says so, which ever comes first. Annual is best practice anyway, but a lot of people don't on certain vehicles - me included on 2nd and 3rd low mileage cars...

Makes sense but would you consider two years without a service acceptable even though it doesnt say that it needs one yet on the computer?

yes, I have a vehicle with a very large engine which has only done 2200 miles in two years and since its last service 2 years ago. I will probably give it a full service at 3 years.

I just sold my Porsche Boxster S 987.....they are 2 years or 20k miles servicing,I NEVER serviced it in over 18 months and it still had 3 months left until its "interval". If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.
