The tale goes on. Today I put the Range Rover into the barn, up onto ramps & took stilsons (cheers for the idea Craig) along with a length of pipe for leverage to the stubborn track rod end nut, hey presto with some brute force & ignorance it moved. So I worked it back & forth til it would move with ease, Now feeling quite pleased with myself I took the nut off the top of the track rod end & put the ball joint splitter to work. It took a bit of effort but it came off with a resounding crack, woohoo I'm on a roll. I knocked the retaining ring off at the inner end, easy peasy. Just loosen off the track rod end itself & I'm home & dry. The car had other idea's, would the track rod end move? Not a chance matey. I tried everything I could think of including much gnashing of teeth with weeping & wailing before giving up. |
