My new RR Westminster

My new RR TDV8 4.4 Westminster. Picked up last week from LPR. Nice car, although having been used to an Audi for the last 18 months, Land Rover still have a few things to learn..mostly on AV. For example, when you reverse, the system doesn't fade the audio system so you can actually hear the parking sensors, this happens in my VW Golf. Also, when you are listening to either CD, Radio or whatever, there is no indication of what is playing in the HUD, simply a large black void (again unlike my 12K Golf, which does this successfully). This makes no sense to me, has it been disabled in the UK? as there is clear video footage of the TFT screen showing audio selection and track details in the promotional videos. I've yet to query the dealer.

Other than these unimportant issues, it is excellent, and particularly economical.

I will post some images shortly.[/img]

Promised since 2009 - I think they forgot to pay someone for a license/firmware upgrade Wink

The dealer will tell you - 'LR are investigating the technology' = 2014MY will do it..... Land Rover Addict

Does your Golf only have rear sensors? If so might make sense - FFRR has front/rear and they assume if you are parking you are clever enough to turn down the AV using.....the buttons on the same wheel you are maneuvering with Wink Land Rover Addict

I never realised you could have Head-up-Display in the Westminster, or does HUD mean something else?

He means the TFT binnacle - i.e. virtual temp/rev/speed/fuel 'dials' Smile

Not technically a HUD, as it's just a computerised binnacle and not a virtual projected one I think you are imagining (a-la boss eyed apache pilot tech!) Land Rover Addict

DMRR, no The Golf has all round parking aids and a picture of the car appears on the central screen - quite useful VAG feature, although no rear camera.

Not that this is a big problem on the RR, just seems to be something that could easily have been achieved. I do like the rear camera through, albeit more useful than an on screen diagram.

HUD, yes I mean the TFT display in the dash.

Welcome, Looks good Thumbs Up

I know what you mean about the digital dash, it seems such a waste to put a TFT in and then just display analog gauges. The area in the middle is prime for sat nav instructions or radio station name etc ... It will be interesting to see if the same dash setup is used in the L405. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

Having just spent the last week tooling around in a D4 HSE (with the latest 8spd etc) that has nearly all the bits that fairwx is lamenting. (His criticisms are the same as mine of the 2012 cars). The audio is muted for the reverse sensors , when they detect, and the central display shows Nav, who you are calling and the radio info.

It's a clear case of LR not wanting to spend development time on the run-out model and using the 2009+ to see how we like the TFT screen.

I just went looking for this video (the feature that you mention is something that I'd ideally want).

I only found this:
http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/rr/range-rover/photos-and-video/
http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/rr/range-ro...15#wrapper
(Bottom of the page, penultimate line)
It shows some things which my TFT doesn't do (as far as I know) but doesn't show audio info. Am I missing something?

It's not available - one of those things they put in the quick start guide on my Nov 2009 one (coming soon - NAV/Audio in the TFT). Never came! Land Rover Addict

My 12 Westminster does not have these things either BUT my previous Evoque had them all.Very annoying as they were a very good idea. If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.
