The deepsea thing looks OK - if you have arms like a gorilla and are wearing an old fashioned diving helmet to go with it. It just looks silly with a cheap off the peg suit on a chap flogging toner.
I think you are right - most second division thugs and scrap merchants seem to wear Rolex (apologies to any second division thugs and scrap merchants on the forum)... |

.... Well I wear a Steel Rolex Submariner with Black Bezel and Face. I'm neither a thug or scrap merchant. It goes rather well with my suits, although I do wear tailored and not off-the-peg! I always thought thugs & Phil Mitchell would be a Gold Rolex kind of person a bit like Del Boy. Anyway James Bond wore a SS Sub 07 Supercharged - Still breaking her in! Easy to say...
Now you're opening a can of worms! Apparently it's only in Casino Royale where his watch gets a mention - and that's only because he has to replace it... Fleming was had a portrait painted and in that he (Fleming) was wearing a Rolex (not a sub though - looks more like a Datejust) and apparently was famous for basing his characters on himself, or at least how he would like to think he was seen by people... So I guess Caractacus Potts also wore a Rolex... |

I reckon the Eberhard Traversetolo Vitre is the perfect FFRR watch - black face, SS case and glass back with tan leather strap! Gorgeous like my FFRR!!

Well as an 80's child most of my Bond experience has come from the films (at Christmas usually) and not the books. Hence why I like the Sub as modelled by Roger Moore / Sean Connery: http://www.blessthisstuff.com/stuff/wear/w...n-auction/ Mines a Sub-Date though as I love the "flick" it does near midnight (just under 4 mins before for me), and the "Cyclops" magnification. My fave watch is the IWC Portugese (original blue hands on blue croc, not the newer "sport" versions). I also have a couple of Mondaines, Invicta and Storm watches from times past. I've only just started to find examples of Poljot's I'd actually buy, so hopefully should have one of those soon. 07 Supercharged - Still breaking her in! Sounds like a Sub is the FFRR watch then. Some people buy it for the rugged engineering and some buy it just because everyone else knows its expensive. Does this mean that a SSRR would have a Bell & Ross as a watch? Looks ok from the outside but underneath it's just a bought-in generic movement
