Teaching the gearbox how to shift properly | |
According to a D3 forum post I read, it's possible to "teach" the gearbox about your driving style by using commandshift more often? I'm still having an intermittent kickdown issue which happens if I cruise at 70 for a few mins and then try to kickdown, I get a big pause and then it bangs into gear (with a lovely shudder). I've had a gearbox software update and the adaptions reset, but I'm not convinced an ATF flush will sort it as it's not juddering, more just being stupid. Other people have mentioned fuel pumps, but once you try a second time the car is happy to rev it's nuts off. Apparently there wern't any fault codes registered, so it's hopefully down to my driving style. This is my first automatic car so maybe I am driving it wrong? How do other people use their kickdown for overtaking? Do you just slam your foot down until the switch clicks, or do you have to be more subtle?
