My friend has a 2009 TDV8 FFRR and has been having some issues with the handbrake lever . The problem is it take two attempts of the switch before you hear the hand brake motor start to work . It releases fine any ideas

I pull and hold the lever for a second or two and it seems to work. If I flick it then it'll let me crawl for about a foot and then come on harshly, which is just asking for someone to drive into you.
