Hmm - home insurance will cover it but there's a £100 excess and it will affect 8 years NCB - so it's probably not worth claiming |

On the flip side, I have Nat West breakdown cover via Green Flag & it has been worth gold to me.

did you pay for it by credit card? if so then you can perhaps have a claim against the card? (not sure but it's worth a try) |

I probably did pay by card, but it was > 2 years ago. My home insurance will pay but once the excess and NCB are taken into account, I'm better off just buying a used one and waiting for the 5.

I'm on contract, yes, and in fact out of contract. The reason I didn't want an upgrade is that I want to hang out for the IP5
