How p'd off is it possible to get?

F*** I'm angry. AS some of you will have seen, I lost my phone at the weekend. Left it on the car and drove off.

I have phone cover provided via my NatWest phone account, so this morning I rang to make a claim. I've had a mobile for over 20 years and never lost one before.

They have declined my claim on the basis that "I didn't take adequate care of the phone". W. T. F. If they cover "loss". then how can any, ANY loss ever be anything other than not taking adequate care? otherwise you wouldn't lose the effin thing.

That's just a f***** joke. What a p155 take.

I'm waiting for the bank mgr to call me back on that very subject. The more I think about it, the more worthless the bank's offerings are. Examples:

- their "free" travel insurance won't cover me whilst riding motorbikes abroad because I have a CAR SP30 in the UK

- their free airport lounge access only covers grotty terminals which nobody ever flies from; for example it won't get me into the BA lounge in LHR T5, presumably the UK's principle/flagship airline and airport terminal

and now this phone fiasco

Might be covered on your house insurance though.

Was just off to check that, thanks for reminding me!

And Gary - yes, more than likely!

Hmm - home insurance will cover it but there's a £100 excess and it will affect 8 years NCB - so it's probably not worth claiming Sad

On the flip side, I have Nat West breakdown cover via Green Flag & it has been worth gold to me.

Broke down outside Paris one night, they paid for recovery, hotel room, meals, got my Passat recovered to VW Main Dealer in France & organised the repair for me. During the 10 days it took to get the car sorted, I had a free Renault Kangoo for hire (quite liked it actually - v roomy for the kids Embarassed Embarassed ) and they kept me fully informed all along!

Best bit was that they helped me get a full refund form VW here once I got back as Passats have a v well documented injector problem!

All in, Nat West recovery was v good but I'll watch out for their phone insurance! Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

did you pay for it by credit card? if so then you can perhaps have a claim against the card? (not sure but it's worth a try)

To be honest, when I read your first post I thought they would not cover it.. You are too honest!! Should have said it was picked from your pocket, stolen etc.... Previously..

I probably did pay by card, but it was > 2 years ago. My home insurance will pay but once the excess and NCB are taken into account, I'm better off just buying a used one and waiting for the 5.

I just think it's utterly ridiculous - the policy says that it covers for "loss" but not if you're not careful. So, how TF are you ever going to lose something unless you're not careful; if you're careful you won't lose it. Donkeys.

Insurance companies are parasites.

Last year a car hit my front wall and knocked down and small part but the rest was now wobbly. The inspector said they would only repair the knocked down part and even after explaining to him it was dangerous and i have children he wouldn't budge. I lost my temper abused him a little and kicked the rest of the wall down in front him, he paid out in the end.... Laughing 2004 black Vogue TD6

I'm on contract, yes, and in fact out of contract. The reason I didn't want an upgrade is that I want to hang out for the IP5 Wink

As of today I'm back on an IP4 which I bought from someone I knew. However, also as of today, my ranting complaint to the Insurance co seems to have paid dividends as they contacted me today to say they would accept my claim (but not before I'd threatened to close the bank acct which provides the cover Rolling Eyes). So now a wait to see what they offer me, if it's cash it'll pay for the phone I bought, if it's replacement hardware it'll be up for sale shortly!
