Broke My Double Bong Virginity

Took my car for an MOT last week and when I got my car back I was not a happy bunny - had just cleaned the car the day before as we were going on a short 2 day break to Cornwall and it came back filthy, so much so that I had to wash the oil and mud out of the drivers mat.

Off we go on holiday and car isnt running quite right but nothing major.

On way back get double bong and 'reduced engine performance' message, pulled over and cleared message with IIDTool and continued on assuring mrs it was probably nothing major.

Later that evening whilst on way to chip shop I get a catastrophic failure with practically all systems going into fault - again pulled over and cleared but remembered how talk of dodgey batteries can cause this so ordered a new S5 and fitted yesterday .... massive difference to feel of car now, much better.

I'm pretty sure the MOT testers killed the original battery.

How did they kill it Stan? By using the windows and leaving the ignition on but engine off? Discovery 4 HSE

Do they deliberately not have the engine running to reduce dust etc?

I'm thinking of getting my front windows slightly tinted and don't want a dead battery as a parting gift. Evil or Very Mad Discovery 4 HSE

Maybe thats why my MOT tester always leaves the engine running for the duration of the test.

To be fair to them the battery was showing signs it was dipping - in very cold weather it was slow to crank so I knew I had to replace it before winter - plus the previous owner put a 90Ah in when it should have been a 110 (FBH fitted) but it was just the way the car was treated that p****d me off and the battery was the icing on the cake.

The rear shelf has a huge water stain on from where the tailgate was left open in the rain, their seat cover wasnt actually covering the seat very well and I wish I had taken a photo of the state of the drivers mat and footwell - I couldnt have got more mud trampled into it even if I had tried.

Gonna have a word with them - I took it to my usual 4x4 speciallist and they ALWAYS treat it with complete respect and comment on how nice the car is, they always cover seat, footwell and steering wheel but they dont do MOT's themselfs - the owners husband owns a tyre fitters and I assumed they would be doing it but it seems they used another firm (they were really busy on the day and did me a favor fitting me in)

The firm they used are just a general garage across the road from them and dont have a great rep.

i reckon you should get the value of the mot price back for your cost of cleaning the range..
it pays to complain, i didnt get treated all that well when i brought my new s/c and after escalating my complaint to the divisional managing director i got myself a full valet and a tankful of fuel.. ... - .- -.
