Do you have to have an addictive personality to own a RR?

I think so...

Most RR/LR owners that I know (excluding the earning loads so must have latest RR as a status symbol but don't know why it's got such big wheels brigade) seem to have (like me) an addictive personality. They collect spare parts like squirrels collect nuts in May....

I spend hours reading about Range Rovers, cleaning and servicing mine, occasionally actually driving it...

And I'm the same with watches.... I spend hours stripping, cleaning, rebuilding etc etc...

Anyone else want to admit it? It's quite cathartic to stand up and say: "I'm Simes, and I'm a loony."

Examples of Loonyness:

@kingpleb:

That one's great - as it's solar and radio connected to the atomic clock, it's the perfect reference tool for setting the others to...

Then I get all angst ridden if any of them are outside COSC standards for accuracy and take them to bits to make them run better... Oddly, the Russian Poljot pilot watches are brilliantly accurate - within a couple of seconds a day when being worn.

@Andy:

We all are like that - I bet you can reel off part numbers and stats for all different years of RR - and can spot the differences from a thousand yards...

As someone who has never worn a watch for past 30 odd years and don't even know if I still have one I find your collection of watches deeply disturbing. Smile
You only have two wrists when all said and done.
Now Landrovers and keeping bits that might be useful someday, thats a different matter Thumbs Up . I spend more time tinkering,maintaining, cleaning etc than driving the RR but when I drive it I think its well worth the time spent on it, particularly as it seems to thoroughly p Censored s off the neighbours.
Watches though......... Laughing

Addiction to Land Rovers? I own three.

Watches? Only 4, maybe 5. I salute you! Bow down

But then there's shoes, jackets, anything car-related... Si. <This is my name.

I have had the same watch for 35 years a simple Seiko Quartz with date (which I have to wind on if 30 days in month) four new glasses and five batteries since new.

Guess what: it tells the time Laughing

I am anal about my FFRR Big Cry .

The Omega Deville - recently bought new - for an upcoming birthday.

Closely followed by the Poljot Flieger watches - they are really robust and keep great time for a Russian movement that is a copy of a Swiss movement...
