Car Damaged whilst at dealers

I wondered if anyone has ever experienced anything similar to this....

My RR was in for a service at a dealer in Cheshire (not fair to name at this point), everything seemed ok, drove it home (19 miles) and parked on drive as normal (under the bedroom window)

The next morning on opening curtains, I noticed a dent in the roof - Definately wasn't there 2 days before. because I washed it and certainly would have noticed. Whilst I cant be 100%, I am almost sure that it happend whilst at the dealer (possible hit with a jet wash lance) as I almost certainly would have seen it if it had been there before.

I called the dealer - explained the situation and have an appointment to see them on Tuesday. OBviously, it really comes down to thier word against mine, but just wondered if what king of response I can expect.

Finally I am really p**sed off with this - I really look after it and at almost 5 years old, is new to me.

Thanks

Do you have a picture of the damage?

When I had an issue with a dealer they used their CCTV to collar the suspect..... Land Rover Addict

just getting my car repaired 18 months later, after work was done by a so called landrover approved garage, they done more damage then it went in for repair and each time it went back more and more damage. the crunch comes down to you have taken it away and then noticed it; then told them.did they not do a check list when they took the car in.i hope they are a fair garage and sort it out for you...my bill cane in at around £7,000 V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Hopefully picture added.

The CCTV is a good idea, I'll ask them to look at it - thank you

Whatever the cause, that looks like a lot more than being hit with a jetwash lance - unless it was whacked down hard on it.

Wonder if the car was raised whilst underneath something?

I had a similar problem with a Volvo V50 that I owned. It was perfect when it went in for a service (the garage is also a Land Rover franchise) but when I went to pick it up there were three dents on the bonnet Evil or Very Mad
They tried to blame me but they'd already signed the chit saying that the car was free from dents or damage when it went in. The car was only a year old & I wasn't a happy bunny. I never even put my car through car washes as it dull's the paintwork, so I'm very very careful with the car.

I only recently found out that it was a mechanic throwing a spanner over to his mate cos he couldn't be bothered walking over, but it just goes to show that you have to be extra careful if anyone is left in charge of your pride & joy, this cannot be a nice situation for the dealership either but if you employ spanners to work with spanners then these are the kind of problems that'll occur.

Just an update - I took the car back this week, together with several photos or the damage.

The "customer service" person was very helpful but had to refer it to her manager who wasn't in that day.

I have called three times this week to follow up - no response yet from the Manager. If I dont hear from him early this week, I'll check he's in and go and wait untill he can see me.

I will push for them to look at CCTV, and post the outcome.

Thanks for your support guys - makes me feel a bit better 'Confused'

Watch out for the timeframe since it went in. They might not keep CCTV footage for very long.

I had a customer collect his 10MY FF 2 weeks ago, had a phone call 3hrs later explaining his rear light was smashed (half the clear cover missing smashed!) so i replaced it FOC, good customer, had no reason to doubt his word looked after his RR's for almost 10yrs now... Anyway, one of my guys 16yr old sons work at the local garden centre and was telling his dad how this RR reversed into a trolley in front of him and smashed his rear light and drove off!

To cut a long story short, i asked my customer to view the CCTV at the Garden Centre and a cheque for the price of the rear light was dropped off by his embaresed wife that day (no extras added for labour costs Evil or Very Mad )

Just goes to show... Theres two sides to every story!

Craig Thumbs Up

Craig, I take it that's either an ex-customer now, or a "special rate card" customer?!?!
