sound problems

i lost all my sound in my 2004 (non touch screen).
it was diagnosed as the amp LR006197, this worked for a few hours after getting a recon until from the dealers.
then sound partially went again (apart from sat nav) then altogether, now i am being told that its the analogue tv module YIL 000023 that needs replacing.

does this make sense or am i dealing with somebody who does not know what they are doing?

i am loathe to go the main dealers as they want £120 +vat just to diagnose what the problem is.

if it is the tv module is there a cheap place to get them, specially with analogue not being there anymore.

cheers
steve

You can check to see if the tv module is at fault by removing it and connecting the sat nav directly to the two plug connectors that previously connected to the tv module.
You need to remove the sat nav from its mounting frame and lay it in a position you can get to the two plugs.

Just to make things slightly more confusing (!!), the dealers tend to call the DSP unit the amp, but its not, its a sound processor. The actual power amplifier section of the system is in the BM54 radio module, of all places.

I had mine upgraded for better amps and clearer sound ;

but it also fixes any amp problems, which are quite common I believe.

Baris, who does the work, joined this forum to help us with the upgrades.

I'm sure if you get in touch with him, he may be able to help you diagnose the issue, one way or another..

on further investigation the power pin on the amp has broken off, its now in an electrical repair shop where they are attempting to graft a wire on to replace the pin as they say you cant get a replacement unit to fit.
we'll see if this solves the problem next week.....

If they fail, I have plenty of spare parts to fix it properly. I can just replace the whole pin for you.
