Replacement Air con fan guard- 3.0L Diesel

Folks, thought I'd share this info with you as could save you some money.
The air conditioning fan guard (directly behind the front grill) got broken on my car last week by an unfortunate pidgeon, so I needed a new one. Went LR dealer and the grill (clips on in 7 places and can be removed by hand - bottom clip is a bit akward to release as is directly behind the lower part of the front spoiler though) is no longer sold seperately and you have to buy the fan and fan cowling aswell (kit PGK000110) for the princely sum of £575 !!
So inspected the broken guard which was stamped BMW as you might expect for a 3.0L diesel engine from an X5 and it had the following stamped on it:-
Front Side : 6 906 107 and PP TX20
Rear side : 232-65000-01
Diameter = @48.5cm (19in)

Went to BMW dealer instead and above is not listed, but he checked the data for a 2006 X5 and sure enough basically same diagram as the LR dealer , the part number is a variation on the above : 64 54 6 906 107.
Price £107 incl. VAT . Got the part and is identical in every way, with all the above numbers, (the BMW part number only being on the sticker stuck on the part).
Not cheap for a large circular piece of plastic, but £468 cheaper than going to LR. The guy gave me a 10% discount anyway so got it for £96 in the end. I did recheck on the internet and no-one appears to make a 'cheap' version of the guard when I checked against the serial numbers above.
Hope this info is of use to someone else.
Cheers Steve

Great find, there are many more like that in the L322, half the parts seem to be BMW rebranded. Tom

Great find! Sounds like something I'd do. Must be the name... Razz

Lucky it was only a pigeon. This guy went to his BMW dealer needing more than a fan guard...

Real. The result of 1 BMW, 1 deer, and a speed difference of 140kmh.
Laughing

Google pic 'BMW+deer'. Lots of disgusting stuff to be seen - as I discovered when I was looking for this pic to post here. I originally saw it about 2-3 years ago when a good friend who drives a 911 sent this to me. He was wondering what would have become of his Porsche in that situation... Shocked
