Camping Stove

Well, I have foolishly agreed to go camping for a couple of nights in a fortnight.

I have:
A FFRR
A tent.
A sleeping bag.
An electric Fridge - for beer
A seat to sit on while the cool beer is drank

However SWMBO (and isn't interested in joining me) has pointed out that I will need to cook and make a brew or two as I won't be in good shape if I live on beer for two days. So, I have a 15kg Butane bottle with regulator that I use for the Gas BBQ but I guess I will need a little stove of some kind (I'll "borrow" pots, pans etc).

So I am interested in recommendations as to what Stove to buy - help Very Happy Geoff

I've just bought one of these:

Great bit of kit and doesn't take up much space.

I've just switched from Butane to petrol and bought two Coleman units. One twin hob and another small single burner that's used for brewing tea etc. Very quick to heat up and boil stuff. Far quicker than most gas rings in my experience.

The butane Jetboil things come highly recommended with replaceable gas cannisters if all you want is a quick cuppa and / or one-pot meal for one. And they're small and easily packed.

Depends how much space you want to fill and whether you'll be using it again.

If it was me, I'd ditch the 15kg Butane bottle and get a few Jetboil things. But it wouldn't be that cheap.

Don't forget a good sleep mat. Beer alone won't a good night's sleep make... Tried that once. Ached for days afterwards.

Oh, and take plenty of toilet roll to counter the effects of the beer in the morning afterwards. Mr. Green Si. <This is my name.

this wont use your gas bottle but go outdoors do a small unit for about £9.99 http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-portab...ve-p142491 which uses little gas canisters..used one on the last plain trip to cook up some bacon.... ... - .- -.

I use the Go Outdoors camping stove quite a lot (every other weekend) when I am marshalling at motorsport events throughout the summer. It is fine for bacon rolls, tea coffee. Its carry case is good as well, so thouroghly recomednt it. You couldn't do anthing fancy on it and make sure you have spare gas canisters. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Go to a campground close to pizza delivery or other take-out places, will be cheaper than buying a bloody stove and going through the hassle of cooking Smile

Or get a 12 Volt electric kettle and get some instant soup and noodles, handy for the tea as well. Don't forget to leave the engine running so you won't end up with the notorious FFRR low voltage issues Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
