Prospective new owner

HI,
we are looking at swapping our XType estate for an F2 or FFRR (if funds allow).
What are the things we should be aware of on the FFRR?
What trim levels do they have ?
It will probably need to be a diesel - but we don't do too much regular mileage - do they have DPFs? do they regen automatically ? or would a 4.4 petrol be better ? What sort of range do they have?

Budget is around £10k but no more...

also have a D2 TD5..
