i have just had my range rover v8 front diff rebuilt under warranty, i dropped the car off on the afternoon of the previous day and they said it would be ready by tomorrow afternoon, i told them i needed the car for that night..i called at 1pm and was told it would be ready by 5pm then was told 6pm and they would call if there was any probs..but never did...it cost me just short of 80.00 pounds on cabs that night they had the car for nearly 2 days, but after collecting the car i found a scuff on the side that wasn't there it still had rubber residue on it,may be from a tyre and when i pointed it out to him he looked at me is if to say it was there when i brought it in,when i dropped it off he went over that car with a fine tooth comb marking on his paper work any little scratch.. i have also discovered a light clunk when i stop and light vibration at around 25 to 30 mph and 2000 rpm, neither of these fault were there before. they have asked me to return with the car, could this be down to them disturbing the front drive train, not a good first impression is it.

p.s went back today for the technician to hear the noise and got the scuff polished out.pleased with that needs to be booked in.will post and let you know

I also took my car to stratstone workshop in Hainault for the diff recall.First time Jan 09,they gave me a loan car free(very small volvo) & said it would take approx 2 days to complete the diff change out.after 2 days with no contact from them i phoned several times & was eventually told they would need the car for another 3 days,they stated due to delays in getting parts.I complained about the the poor customer feed back & delay,i also requested an upgrade to the free loan car as it was too small for me.They agreed to this & gave me a Freelander,which was an inprovement on the Volvo.After a total of 6 days i was able to pick the car up & all ok.
All was ok until i took my car for it's MOT in May 09,the MOT inspector noted that there was an very bad oil leak from the front diff.I took the car straight to Stratstones for them to inspect it,which they did & stated that the diff would need replacing again as the seal had gone,this would be done under the guarantee from the first diff change & would again take 2 days.Again after 3 days with no contact from them ,i phoned them several times & all i got was some muppet who said he would pass my message on to the service manager.On day four i went round there,as i only live around the corner,Spoke to the manager who was very sorry about the service i had received,but said they were having problems with the diff repair. Eventually i got my car back after Eight days,with a full valet done as compensation. I informed them that i would not be using them again & would not recommend them to anybody, and i would be complaining to LandRover about there poor service & workmanship, which i have.But as yet had no reply.

thanks for your reply, they have asked me to return it, i did get a comment from one of the men at the service desk, "it will take as long as it takes" not what you wanted to here after lumping out 80 quid on cabs becouse they could not be bothered to phone, it will go back to them and if they try to tell me that its due to something else i will go mad, i was talking to a man dropping of his wifes car and he told me a story after having it serviced it came back with a rattle.

Try taking your car to Lookers Bishops Stortford, two mins off the M11 before Stansted and experience some good customer service

I have tried Stratstones Hainault by the way , never again.

I am going to speak to lookers BS next week about servicing mine. They are ok then?
Forgot to add that the last two services were done by stratsones as they are only 5 mins from me, no real problems but they will not phone you!

hi, thay are 5 mins from stratstone in chigwell, Tel: 020 8599 5035| Unit 4b, Hainault Rd, Little Heath, Romford, Essex RM6 5SS.. ask for robert, they done my torque after it was in and out of that stratstones like a yoyo. what do you need done, is it the recall on the front diff or do you have a prob with the diff.

Hi Dave. my car is running perfectly but it is due for a service and i have never had the diff modifaction done on it . also iam frightened to do it as with you i have heard of the job not being done properly. I need the car to be in perfect order as i am taking it to Italy for the rest of the year. Thanks for the number.

My experience with this dealership was horrible as well. Another dealership to add to the list is Beadles of Sidcup. Every time I have gone down to see them, they are extremely polite and helpful.

Yes they are still in business, they done my torque converter without any probs... They have moved but are only around the corner to stratstones...stratstones charged me £11 for a cable tie then wanted to take me for nearly 1000 on a suspension fault that was wrongly diagnosed. Then returned the car with a big scuff on the back door.
