MOT'D for another 12 months...

...with a couple of advisories on front metal brake pipes and rear flexi pipes, which to be fair about I knew the fronts were suspect as it was an advisory last year. Dan-Dan the parts man has ordered me a set of 4 flexi pipes and once they arrive I will have all the pipework changed, that should keep me on the road for a few years.

When Chris the tester came back from the road testing of the brakes he said that my old TD6 was one of the best he has ever driven, he had a 2008 in last week for an MOT which was a bag of nails.

A good start to the day, just hope everything else goes to plan, but somehow I doubt it.

I've been going to the same MOT station for 26 years now and have to travel to get to it, Chris has been doing my MOT's for the past 9 or 10 years and he is a fussy beggar and lets me away with nothing, but I would rather it was that way as I know exactly where I stand. I could go to a local MOT station and have a test done for £19.99 but I bet that I would have more fails than passes.

I've never understood folks that go to places that are a bit "less stringent" Whistle in their examinations at MOT time!! Why risk your life with things like brakes and steering?

Agreed!

My 'new' Vogue came with free MOT's for life - which is kind of ace. Land Rover Addict

@alanm_3 fully agree with you

@47p2 I failed on the same thing this year. I went to a mains dealer this year as they charge the same amount as the local garages. I failed on bulging brake lines. It was sorted in under three hours. Paul

So, the MOT is an annual safety inspection?

Pennsylvania, where I grew up, had those, Colorado does not.
My brother still lives in Pennsylvania.
He doesn't do any kind of maintenance on his vehicles until it fails an inspection, then he grumbles about how expensive everything is to fix.

Here in Colorado, there are some rust-bucket old POS things on the road, that wouldn't pass inspection in Pennsylvania.

I'm all over my vehicles.
A drop of coolant or oil on the floor, and I'm underneath on my back until I find what's leaking and fix it.
In fact, last Saturday, there was a little coolant on the floor under the FF.
Discovered a failing hose clamp on the back of the engine that was wearing at the hose, and would only drip when hot.
(coolant manifold outlet to aux coolant pump)
Yes, it took 2 hours in the garage to find it.
Picked up the new hose section (4" long) on Monday, installed it in 10 minutes.
All Better!

Cost me $18 & a couple hours.
My brother would not have noticed the drip, or ignored it.
The hose would have failed while driving, he wouldn't stop right away, all the coolant would blow out, the engine would not be cool with that, and would turn into 1 very large boat anchor.
Then he'd complain about what a piece of crap the vehicle was.

Important stuff, I'm all over.
My sagging headliner in the 2000 RR... whatever. I'll get to it eventually. Smile Jim
