Thanks for the reply RRUK, I have been looking on the forum since before I bought the motor and had seen the first link you sent but I have not seen or read anything about pre transmission fail other than overheating.

hi just had the gearbox go in mine, first you'll get the feel of the car going over a cattle grid at slow speeds (30-35 mph as the clutch tries to lock up but can't, due to lack of lining material) then the problem occurs at most speeds before total loss of drive, apparently its not the box that is at fault its the torque converter that breaks up inside and the bits that travel into the box via the fluid and therefore destroy the clutch packs and all the valves ect, so if it does go then make sure you get the t.c replaced also. Total cost for complete rebuild and fitting is £2000 ,The guy that did mine replces t.c with a kevlar lined unit complete with lifetime guarentee and the box gets 12mths. |

the guy is in leigh, nr wigan Automatic gearboxes and is name is fred, he defo knows is stuff and he knows it .......lol, but does a good job. he even gave me a car to use for a couple of day while he had mine |
