This is crazy - they haven't even decided on when to strike yet - or met to decide that. Just filled up (as I was on empty so not a panic buy) and the forecourts are starting to fill up with cars again. Just heard on the radio that someone was transferring petrol from one container to another in their kitchen Shocked and had the cooker on ......very severe burns - and all this because my local MP ( Censored wit ) - suggested people go off an stock up on petrol.... "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Agreed.

Mind you, the Labour government would have told us there'd be no strike and that all was well, and the next thing there'd be no fuel....

The Cons have managed to do exactly the same, but in reverse. Si. <This is my name.

It is daft though....yes the petrol stations and government have made a load if cash, but for the next week or two no one will need any fuel so the petrol stations and government. Will see a big slump in their cash flow!

Swings and roundabouts!!

Paul.

Sorry, but I have absolutely no sympathy for her.

You have to be a monumental 'tard to do anything with petrol near an open flame.

Just went into Halfords and I noticed a bloke walking out with a jerrycan. When I spoke to the girl on the till about it she said they sold out last on Thursday but had more in today and they were flying off the shelves.

There wasn't a queue for fuel at my local Tesco this morning so they have either sold out or everyone is fully topped up from the last couple of days panic. When I went in for 80 odd litres of diesel the woman in front of me was topping her car up - she got about 4 litres in and had queued for 10 minute for that - unbelievable Very Happy

PS
I do actually feel sorry for the woman who burned herself, after all she was only following the advice of a government minister and didn't realise exactly how volatile petrol vapour is, happens every weekend to someone with a lawnmower, in fact I remember when I was 17 (not stupid but didn't know any better) trying to burn some rubbish by dousing in petrol and throwing a match on it- spectacular, and I lost quite a bit of body and facial hair Thumbs Up
Francis Maude on the other hand should be sacked for giving stupid advice, causing a panic and maybe for just being called Francis Maude Rolling with laughter . Geoff

I am just amazed at how stupid the general public are. A casual throw-away comment from a minister, who was speaking "into the future" should a strike arise, and doesn't know the capacity of a jerry can (or its definition - he could have meant the 1 gallon ones - for emergencies), and the country goes crazy.

The woman, sympathies for her injuries, she won't do anything so silly again.

I'm lucky that I had plenty of go-juice in the vehicles already to avoid all the madness this week, and anyway Tescos had run out of diesel! .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink
