does anyone know if the usb/i-pod connector insert for the 2010 onwards vehicles could be added into an older car maybe utilising the aux connector in the rear. or is it more complicated than that? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

It's more complicated than that. So far as I can gather.

I have gone for a cup holder mount for the iPhone/touch with a cable which has an apple connector at one end and a 3.5mm jack and a USB at the other. Plus a cigarette lighter to USB converter for Power. Plug the USB/ciggie converter Into the power in the centre cubby and the 3.5mm jack into the aux in the rear.

Ok so you will have to control the music via the iPod and its not what id call integrated, But the whole lot is about 20 sheets.

For "proper" integration I believe you will need a kit like the Dension gateway and the iPod will then take the place of the cd changer in the system. It's not as simple as buying the cable as its designed for the later models which have a different infotainment system which integrates more easily with iPods etc. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Stu, if you PM an address I will send you my original USB/iPod connector to play with - its no good for anyone else with a 2010MY unless theirs is broke and they don't want to charge their iphone

However a smart man may be able to take it apart and rewire it so it does charge and a really smart man may be able to find a way to adapt it to an older model - especially if they don't have to pay for one to play with
