I always assumed that additional options on a FFRR would help its resale value , not according to the dealership i phoned yesterday for a trade in price , they told me that RSE , Blind Spot Assist , Surround Cameras , iPod connection and such don't count on the trade in value on a car , the additions mostly only help if selling it privately ...

I guess it's similar to selling a house. A new bathroom and kitchen costs a lot to add but it doesn't increase the house value, just makes it more attrctive to the buyer.

If you were to sell it privately, you would get a bit more and would sell it very quickly with all the toys you have.

Most dealers will load the price if they have a car with extras (though not by much) and ignore them when buying. However, if it hasn't got RSE, they'll tell you that it won't sell and they need a discount to book to take it on.

Though to be fair, the dealer didn't notice that my car had the reclining rear seat option (£2k worth of extra) when I was buying it. Winning.

Extras only cost owner number 1. Resale isn't generally increased unless it's something like a bigger engine  Land Rover Addict
