- has anyone tried this or is it snake oil (I'm just about to wash twice + 2 AutoGlym resin polish layers + wax) ?

I know what I'd choose......and that's exactly what you are about to do!!

sounds like a contradiction in terms:

PTFE = very very low coefficient of friction

Polish = significant coefficient of friction, otherwise it can't 'polish' - by definition!

use your Autoglym and some elbow grease

Snake oil definitely, have a look at their other items, do they have spirit level bubbles, left handed screwdrivers, long stands, tartan paint?

Out of interest, what Autoglym are you using? Super Resin (red)?

Autoglym High Gloss (black) is much better on metallic and dark paint. I use that on my RR and black E55 and the results are much better in my opinion.

Also assume you've clay-barred the paint beforehand to remove surface contaminants? Can't recommend this highly enough if you've not considered it. Meguiars do an affordable clay bar and buy their Spray Detailer for lubrication.

I've used AutoGlym for decades, but Zymol is now my prefered paint treatment.

I use it... Its very good has lasted for ages on my wifes freelander... (tried it on that first before my FF)

I have to admit that I was struggling with how the teflon would stick to the paintwork (given the problems that they have attaching it to non stick saucepans).

It was only to replace the wax after a couple of Autoglym Super (red) resin polishes - I'll try the Autoglym black version when the red has run out !

I've resisted clay barring to date, but may have to do it this time - the detailing pictures on this forum look very good. Given the hose pipe bans arriving on the 5th April, I wanted to do the annual proper polish up a little earlier!

Craig - how long is "ages" - a month ?

As far as the hosepipe ban, I'd use a watering can with the rose thing removed.

It takes a bit longer, with trips to the tap, but there is less water flying around and its easier to leather afterwards.

You can direct the water exactly where you want it.

You can do that with a hosepipe, but you have to have the pressure turned down.

Just my 2p on rinsing cars off.....

When i say ages, my wifes Freelander is used like a Beirut taxi! Her opinion is "why wash it when it'll get dirty tomorrow" but still she insists on me removing my shoes in "her house!"

I polished hers "very quickly and easily" i have to say! about a 12 month ago, its Epsom Green (which IMHO is a bad colour to keep clean) and when its washed (around every 3 months) comes up very very well compaired to before polishing it...

I used to use Auto Glym every weekend on my cars keeping them tip top... (have a valet these days due to time constraints) Still use their tyre polish (every couple of days with a quick wipe over the paint using devil shine)

So, IMHO its a good polish... its only a few quid to waist if you dont like it! Simples...

I used to do the 2 bucket method on my M5, but have yet to experience the delights of a microfibre drying towel.

I shall progress this suggestion with vigour........

Seems their marketing people haven't differentiated between polish and protection - it sounds like the sort of thing home shopping channels sell, and the eBay guff is hardly helping. The problem is identifying exactly what it is before dismissing it as useless (I understand some well-respected products might contain some PTFE, but it certainly doesn't bond to your paint like it does to a frying pan).

Autoglym Super Resin Polish is an all-in-one polish, filler and (light) sealant - the finish still lasts longer with a wax or sealant on top.
