Nudge Bar

I have just purchased a new nudge bar from a local internet auction site for my 2003 TD6 HSE. I have yet to physically see it. The advert states it is in primer and needs to be topcoated to suit. I was unaware that they came unpainted was always of the assumption that they are just black plastic/rubbery stuff.
Has anyone else encountered this with their nudge bars?

Adrian

Yes, you can buy primed (more expensive) or unprimed... In both A bar and full wrap around...
I would suggest, if you dont want a colour coded one then to buy just an unprimed one my friend...

Thanks for that Craig.
I think I will stick with what I have bought and get it painted.
The prices of Range Rover parts over here is ridiculous so I think the price I paid of NZ$60 (rpughly UKPds30) is a bargain. Even with the price of painting on top.
They had some side tubes for the same price (new) but I bought some for twice that price last month and hopefully don't need spares.
just need some seat covers and I am set.

Sounds good and cheap pal... And, if its in factory primer, Brand New too! Result...

Hi Adrian, I think the nudge bar makes the car look ugly as. Unfortunately my car has the full nudge bar (including the headlight "protection" that is fitted with brackets drilled through the fenders) and removal would mean some ugly holes in the front fenders.

Personally I think it makes the car look a lot uglier and I would suggest that you only consider it if you really need to because of the sort of driving you do (lot of bushy off road stuff for example). If I would do my Africa overland in this car, then I would actually use the nudge bar and fit poly-carbonate protection in front of the headlights and grille and maybe even use a bonnet deflector to safeguard against dirt road driving like in Ozzie).

But if you are not using it in those conditions, please leave it clean, these cars look soo much nicer without the nudge bar (I am jealous of the many FFRRs that cruise around Lagos without the nudge bar, even though they do come in very handy with the bloody Okadas, and the other member cars without nudge bars especially the S/Cs). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Yeah I must admit to being undecided what to do with it.
So cheap I couldn't pass it up though.
I agree that with the light guards they look odd.
But a basic nudge bar possibly in body colour (metallic dark green) with some nice spots might just look ok.
We shall see.

I think you can take it off without being left with ugly holes in the front if you wanted to. Not sure whether body colour will make any difference. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
