Speedo/Rev Counter

Does anyone know why they are speedo right/rev left on petrol, and speedo left/rev right on diesel?

I'm baffled.... Land Rover Addict

While I'm being vague ... I don't recall there being so much fake leather in the Vogue SE ... was it my imagination? (i.e. lower dash) Land Rover Addict

I don't think I've ever seen a cluster with the speedo on the right. Seems to be a (logical) convention. Even my very first car, a Ford Capri V6 had the speedo on the left and tach on the right. And I looked at plenty of instrument cluster pics recently while writing the EASControl and IIDTool user manuals. It's the same in the D3/4 and RRS as well.

I think you may be a bit confused... Razz

A quick ebay search on L322+instrument yields 3 pics including an SC - all adhering to the same convention:

(Freelander V6 - which I owned - speedo ... on right)

(5.0 RR - speedo on right.....)

So I must have just got all confused with the 4.4 and the 4.2!

(Discovery 1 - 200TDI, mine was a 300 - but the speedo was again ... on the right!) Land Rover Addict
