I got my son a personal plate for his 1st birthday last year. It's on retention and runs out today. I can't find the certificate as we're between homes with 99% of all our stuff in storage. I've been there today to look for the cert but can't find it I've logged into the DVLA account but the plate isn't showing in my account, and I can't add it as I don't have the cert with the serial number on it!

sorry, can't help with a tel number, but I have quite a few no's on retention as investments.

I receive a reminder from DVLA to renew approx 3 to 4 weeks before the due date. You then either complete the form or complete the form on the retention doc and return to DVLA with £25. As far as I understand if you do not renew by the due date you lose the right to the number. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure thats the case. Not what you wanted to hear .

I keep an electronic reminder in my diary the week before they are due.

Thanks for the help. I listened to all the DVLA messages and if you go past the dead line you can get it back but you need to write to them explaining why you missed it so you can still get it. Mines all sorted now. Found the cert in the shed (not where it should have been). Went online and tried to add the cert but was already assigned to another account.
